Sachin Mehta
Mr. Mehta was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He began his legal career as a public defender for the territory of America Samoa and left his mark on the South Pacific isle by causing the expulsion of a brutally violent prison guard, creating the territory's first Juvenile Parole Board, and bringing attention to the illegal and inhumane treatment of inmates in the Samoan prison system. After losing his home to a hurricane, Mr. Mehta returned to Los Angeles where as an associate he assisted in projects that varied from the defense of the nation's single largest FTC false advertising case and the defense of companies such as Toyota and U.S. Silica Co. against product liability and toxic tort suits, to successfully representing a low income family against a major insurance company.
While at USC's School of Law, Mr. Mehta represented an Algerian refugee in a Ninth Circuit appeal on his asylum application and served as a judicial extern for the Federal District Court of Hawaii. Prior to law school, Mr. Mehta received his degree in mathematics-economics from UCLA with honors.
