Corona Impact on Estate Planning

During this uncertain time, it is natural to think about your mortality, make plans for the future, and want to be prepared should sudden unexpected events take place.

To be clear: There appears to be a consensus among the leading public health experts. Regular hand-washing, refraining from touching your face, and practicing safe social distancing should protect you against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and just as importantly, lessen the burden on our hospitals and medical personnel to better deal with health emergencies.

At Mehtalegal, we wish for all of our clients to remain safe and healthy. We ourselves are working from home, but remain open for business. We are able to provide consultations over the phone or via video conference. We are also still fully capable of preparing complete estate plans including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and all related documents. Though we cannot meet in person at this time, we have come up with a system for finalizing your documents that keeps everyone involved safe and healthy. For any documents that require notarization we have put together a list of mobile notaries that observe proper social distancing health and safety protocols. Because notaries are considered essential services, these notaries can come directly to you and together we can help guide you through the signing process to ensure that everything is executed properly.

If you would like to consult with us about preparing an estate plan, please feel free to contact us.
